GMAC Appoints Joy Jones Chief Product Officer, General Manager of Assessments

New Role Created to Enrich and Grow the Council’s Leadership Position in the Graduate Management Education Community

RESTON, Va. (July 11, 2017) – The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), an association of leading business schools, today announced that Joy Jones has joined the organization as its chief product officer and general manager of assessments.

Jones will be responsible for holistically managing the Council’s products and assessments portfolio, which includes the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) exam — used by more than 6,500 programs worldwide and taken each year by more than 200,000 candidates for application to graduate business programs. In addition to the GMAT exam, Jones will oversee the NMAT by GMAC exam, Executive Assessment, test preparation materials and the organization’s database product — Graduate Management Admission Search Service (GMASS). Jones will serve as an officer of the company and a member of the Council’s senior leadership team.

“We are excited to have Joy join our executive team,” said Sangeet Chowfla, president and CEO of GMAC. “The knowledge and expertise that Joy brings are an asset to the organization as we continue to propel our strategic plan forward and drive the growth and diversification of our assessments and products portfolio.”

Jones comes to GMAC from the Associated Press (AP), where in her 13-year tenure she held a variety of product, sales, business development and operations leadership roles. She oversaw all product portfolio and distribution platform management across the company’s multimedia content licensing, advertising and content service businesses.

Prior to AP, Jones worked at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, where she was an executive with the Telecom Media Networks consulting practice. She earned her MBA at Stanford University and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and applied sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she graduated with honors.

“I look forward to developing the product strategy and roadmap at GMAC,” said Jones. “The Council has a rich history and I am excited to build upon this legacy of matching talent and aspiration with opportunity. I’m joining an extremely high-caliber team, and I’m looking forward to working with our members and schools to continue to drive value and identify areas of opportunity for graduate management education.”
