Delivering a Differentiated Experience Is Top of Mind at This Year's GMAC European Conference

The European Graduate Management Education Community Gets an Opportunity to Share and Learn About Best in Class Practices in Candidate Selection, Course Delivery, and more at the Fourth Annual Event

LONDON and MADRID, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Oct 5, 2011) - The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and IE Business School today jointly announced the upcoming "Best in Class: Delivering a Differentiated Experience in a Globalised World" -- GMAC's fourth annual European conference for professionals in graduate management education. The Conference will be held on October 10-11 at one of the world's leading business schools, IE Business School, located in Madrid, Spain.

The conference brings together professionals with strategic and decision-making responsibilities in programme management, admissions, and marketing. A mix of workshops, speaker sessions, training modules, and networking sessions will enable attendees to access innovative ideas, new information, and international networks.

"The growing need for business schools to innovate and differentiate reflects the overall trend of rapid globalisation of graduate management education and the challenge this presents for candidate selection, course delivery, and new technologies," said Julia Tyler, executive vice-president of GMAC.

"In our recently released 2011 annual Application Trends Survey (PDF) we saw that international applicants make up 53 percent of full-time MBA programme applicants, on average. The Conference is designed to help business schools identify strategies and practices which help them adapt to the growing trend of internationalisation."

"This year's GMAC conference focuses on something that is important to all of us in business education -- meeting the needs of students in a unique and meaningful way," said David Bach, Professor of Strategic Management and Dean of Programs at IE Business School.

"Thus, we must endeavor to continually innovate at every stage of management education, from marketing and candidate selection to the admissions progress, from content development and delivery to the ever evolving relationship between alum and their school."

The conference will feature hands-on workshops, in-depth lectures and innovative modules by high-profile speakers, including:

  • Garrick Jones, Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Partner of the Ludic Group, a design led Strategy Consultancy, with over 20 years of experience working with governments and the world's largest organizations in Innovation, Business Design, Problem Solving and Cultural Transformation.
  • Newton Campos, Director of Admissions, Blended Programs, IE Business School, with over 15 years of experience in marketing for technology and educational services.
  • Giselle Weybrecht, Author of The Sustainable MBA - The Manager's Guide to Green Business.
