The Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) and Vantage Learning have released new software to help prospective business school students prepare for the writing portion of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®).
McLean, Virginia (December 4, 2008)--The Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) and Vantage Learning have released new software to help prospective business school students prepare for the writing portion of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®). The software, GMAT Write®, is endorsed by GMAC, the international association of leading business schools that owns the GMAT exam. The tool was designed by Vantage Learning using material provided by GMAC.
GMAT Write grades essays with the Vantage-designed IntelliMetric® automated scoring engine--the same technology used to score essays written for the Analytical Writing Assessment, a component of the GMAT. This enables GMAT Write to provide a test-preparation experience that accurately simulates the writing portion of the GMAT.
"GMAC is pleased to offer as robust a tool as GMAT Write to help people strengthen their writing skills," said Peg Jobst, senior vice president of the GMAT program at the Graduate Management Admission Council. "We are dedicated to providing prospective MBAs with the best test-preparation materials available--and excited about working with Vantage to accomplish this mission."
GMAT Write includes a host of features to help prospective MBA students evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and build confidence as writers.
- The software identifies and analyzes flaws in the way a person's essay is structured.
- GMAT Write critiques essays with relevant supporting reasons and examples that clearly demonstrate how to build a stronger, more persuasive argument.
- The program shows writers how to use language effectively. This includes explanations of diction, syntax and conventions of standard written English.
The IntelliMetric technology at the core of GMAT Write is recognized as one of the most accurate systems of its kind in the standardized testing industry. IntelliMetric uses artificial intelligence to score open-ended and constructed-response questions with documented levels of accuracy and reliability exceeding that of human expert scorers. Vantage's IntelliMetric consistently applies the pooled knowledge, or scoring rubric, of expert scorers to the essays it evaluates.
"It is natural that we extend our suite of GMAC-endorsed products to include preparation tools for the GMAT exam," said Paul Edelblut, vice president of Vantage Learning. "Candidates using GMAT Write will be scored by the same artificial intelligence engine that scores the actual GMAT exam. There is no better tool on the market right now to help people prepare for the writing portion of the GMAT."
Information and registration for GMAT Write can be found at the Vantage Online Store (www.vantageonlinestore.com) and at GMAC's online portal for prospective business school students, www.mba.com.
The Graduate Management Admission Council (www.gmac.com), based in McLean, Virginia, is a nonprofit education organization of leading graduate business schools worldwide dedicated to creating access to and disseminating information about graduate management education.
