GMASS Policy
If I am a GMAT-using school, why was my GMASS subscription inactivated?
Effective July 1, 2019, GMAC has updated our GMASS policy and now will limit GMASS subscriptions to schools who have received at least 10 GMAT score reports either as an annual average over the past 36 months or over the past 12 months as determined by school code – whichever is greater.
The candidate database is comprised of candidates who come to mba.com and express an interest in graduate management education (GME) and taking the GMAT exam, with the expectation that their information will be provided to schools who actively engage with GMAC and utilize the GMAT exam as part of their admissions process.
If a school’s status changes and they start receiving the required 10 GMAT scores their GMASS subscription will be reactivated at the beginning of the next quarter.
What if I am a GMAT-using school and my school currently receives more than 10 GMAT scores or more, but suddenly falls below the 10 GMAT scores in a 12-month period, will my account be inactivated?
If you are a school that has received at least 10 GMAT score reports as an annual average over the past 36 months, your school will still be eligible to use the GMASS database. But if your school receives less than 10 GMAT scores within this period, your school will be no longer have access to the GMASS database.
What are the steps I can take to become eligible to use GMASS?
Start accepting the GMAT exam as part of your admissions process for one or more of your programs. Here is a link to more information about how you can leverage the GMAT exam to reach and recruit prospective candidates.
Using GMASS
What data is available on GMASS candidates?
Visit the demograhics section of the Recruit with GMASS page to see the list of all data we capture on candidates.
Candidates share their pre- and post-program industry and function. How can I use this intelligence?
You should use this for segmenting around their future interests or what has spoken to them in the past. If they are in consulting and want to switch to nonprofit, how does your program help with that transition? You can do the individual evaluation by each candidate for personalization or find similar candidates to create unique segments that you can speak to slightly more broadly. Additionally, if you have alumni who work at organizations in the candidate’s desired industry, prioritize them to make the greatest impact.
How do I use GMASS on social media?
You’re welcome (and encouraged) to contact candidates on social media channels such as LinkedIn. You may also create lookalike profiles leveraging the GMASS profile data. Click here to learn how to do this on Facebook and LinkedIn.
How long may I use a GMASS contact?
GMASS data may be used for up to 12 months from the date of purchase. During this time, you have unlimited access to these leads and should contact them at least 7 times to maximize your impact, ideally through multiple channels such as email, social, phone/text, and in person.
My account has been suspended; how can I access my invoice to make a payment?
You can download your invoice by logging into your gmac.com account clicking on Profile, and then clicking on the invoices tab.
Why does the same name always appear in each search I download?
At the end of every search you download, we insert a seed name to ensure compliance with the GMASS Terms of Use. This seed name is for your protection as it enables GMAC to monitor your communications to GMASS contacts, preventing CAN SPAM and privacy violations. There is no cost to you for the seed name and it should not be removed from your downloaded searches.
I am working with a marketing organization. Can I give them access to our GMASS account to run searches on our behalf?
Yes, third-party service providers may use your GMASS account if they have a signed agreement containing confidentiality and other obligations at least as restrictive as those contained in the GMASS Terms of Use Agreement.
May I survey candidates?
Yes, as long as the survey is school-sponsored and the research study is related to graduate management education

Types of GMASS Candidates
What are the types of leads in GMASS?
There are three types of leads in GMASS:
- Early Profiles: candidates who opted into GMASS and have only shared minimal information such as name, email address, and their current location, but did not complete their registration
- Full Profile leads: Candidates who opted into GMASS with two or more data points
- Full Profiles with Score: Candidates who opted into GMASS and have a full profile and have as well as a GMAT test score
Why would a school be interested in purchasing Early Profile leads?
These candidates are highly interested in learning more about graduate management education and the various types of programs available from schools. Since they are earlier in their decision-making process, they are less settled in their choices and more open to new introductions. They are also active in their consideration of business school: roughly half of these candidates have engaged with our free GMAT Prep material. Read this case study of a school that found success marketing to these Early Profiles.
What type of background information do we have about the Early Profile leads?
Due to their early place in the decision-making process, there is limited data available: email address, first name, and location by country, city, and state.
What if an Early Profile lead becomes a Full Profile or Full Profile with Score, will a school receive the update?
Yes, profile upgrades are free with GMASS! To ensure you receive the upgraded profile, select “Purchase names with updated profiles” when finalizing your GMASS search. The updated lead will be included in your download file at that time.

How does GMASS present the consent option for candidates to opt into GMASS?
A candidate is presented with a description of the GMASS service with a checkbox, indicating they would like to be connected with schools and strategic partners of GMAC. We share the details of who can access GMASS, what data is shared, and so on
here. Additionally, in the GMASS Terms of Use, we indicate that participating organizations must comply with applicable law, provide you with their contact information, and allow you to change or withdraw your communication preferences. Candidates may change their communication preferences or unsubscribe from GMASS by logging into their account and updating their mba.com profile or by contacting GMAC Customer Care.
