GMAT™ Focus Edition

When will GMAT™ Focus Edition candidates be available in GradSelect?

Starting November 7th, you will start to see tested candidates in GradSelect.

Why is the search experience for tested candidates changing from scores to percentiles?

GMAT™ Focus Edition has a new score scale with scores ranging from 205 to 805. All total scores now end in a 5.

In order to make it easy for you to find comparable candidates in GradSelect, regardless of their assessment, we’ve introduced a search experience built on percentiles. As an example, if you search for candidates in the 80% percentile, GradSelect will produce GMAT™ Exam-tested candidates with a score of 680 or GMAT™ Focus-tested candidates with a score of 625.

You will see this change in GradSelect starting October 19th.

GMAT Focus Edition includes different sections than the GMAT exam. What will happen with GradSelect?

We've removed the AWA section from the search experience in GradSelect as it will no longer be offered with GMAT Focus. The new Data Insights section has been combined with Integrated Reasoning section for ease of use. While these are not measuring the same candidate performance, they are sufficiently aligned for the purposes of GradSelect recruitment. Visit here to learn more about the new Data Insights section.

What happens with recurring searches that include a GMAT score range?

Not to worry, we will update your recurring searches that include a GMAT score range to instead search by percentile. Starting on November 7th, your searches will include candidates who have taken either the GMAT™ or GMAT™ Focus exam.

We’ll contact you when your searches have been updated so you can revisit your criteria, if you’d like. If you have any questions about your searches, feel free to reach out to your GMAC account representative or email gradselect@gmac.com.

How will the download file change?

Starting October 19th, your download file will be updated with new, retired, and updated information. Many of these updates relate to candidates who have taken GMAT Focus.

First, we added and updated columns related to GMAT content. We added "GMATPercentileRange" (note this includes new codes/values). We also revised the current "GMATScoreRangeTotal" to now be titled "GMATScoreRange", as well as adding in new codes for the GMAT Focus exam score ranges. Reminder that scores ending in "0" reflect GMAT exam scores; GMAT Focus scores end in "5." We also shifted the order of the columns to arrange all the testing information intuitively.

Next, we removed the "PhoneSMSAuto column", as it is no longer relevant with "PhoneSMSOptIn".

Last, there are no changes to "GMATExamDate" or "ExamType".

Do I need to update my CRM with the new download file format?

Yes, you'll need to add in the new property around percentiles and review the remainder of the fields continue to be successfully pulled into your CRM. Generally speaking, here is the process:
1. Create a new property/field in your CRM first.
2. Check and modify the names (labels) of the new fields in your CRM. Alternatively, you may change the field names in the excel download file first.
3. Upload the CSV file.
4. Once the import is completed, you will see a report of errors and records imported.
5. Resolve those errors and import the file again if needed.

Here are a few resources for specific CRMs:

Additionally, if you are using a data integrator like Zapier:

  • Turn off your existing Zap.
  • Add new fields and map with corresponding properties in your CRM.
  • Review properties that are already mapped.
  • Test action.
  • Turn the Zap back on.

Will I know which GMAT exam my candidates have taken?

You’ll be able to identify candidates who have taken the GMAT™ Focus Edition exam by the last number of their score. All Focus edition scores end in 5.

What about GMAC Recommendations being made to candidates who have taken the GMAT™ Focus Edition?

Candidates taking GMAT™ Focus will continue to receive recommendations about programs they should consider and these will be made available in GradSelect.

The premium insight “Scores Sent to My Competitors” captures when candidates send their GMAT scores to my program’s competitive group. Will this include GMAT™ Focus Edition scores?

Yes! This insight on a candidate’s decision-making will continue to elevate candidates who send a GMAT™ Focus Edition score or a GMAT™ score to your program’s competitive group.

For more information on premium insights, please contact your GMAC account representative or email gradselect@gmac.com. We’re happy to share more on how you can use these insights to connect with decision-level candidates in GradSelect.

Is anything changing with the price of Full Profile with Scores candidates who have taken the GMAT™ Focus exam?

No, these candidates will continue to be made available at the same price as GMAT™-tested candidates.

Using GradSelect

What data is available on GradSelect candidates?

Visit the demographics section of the Recruit with GradSelect page to see the list of all data we capture on candidates.

Candidates share their pre- and post-program industry and function. How can I use this intelligence?

You should use this for segmenting around their future interests or what has spoken to them in the past. If they are in consulting and want to switch to nonprofit, how does your program help with that transition? You can do the individual evaluation by each candidate for personalization or find similar candidates to create unique segments that you can speak to slightly more broadly. Additionally, if you have alumni who work at organizations in the candidate’s desired industry, prioritize them to make the greatest impact.

How do I use GradSelect on social media?

You’re welcome (and encouraged) to contact candidates on social media channels such as LinkedIn. You may also create lookalike profiles leveraging the GradSelect profile data. Click here to learn how to do this on Facebook and LinkedIn.

How long may I use a GradSelect contact?

GradSelect data may be used for up to 12 months from the date of purchase. During this time, you have unlimited access to these leads and should contact them at least 7 times to maximize your impact, ideally through multiple channels such as email, social, phone/text, and in person.

My account has been suspended; how can I access my invoice to make a payment?

You can download your invoice by logging into your gmac.com account clicking on Profile, and then clicking on the invoices tab.

Why does the same name always appear in each search I download?

At the end of every search you download, we insert a seed name to ensure compliance with the GradSelect Terms of Use. This seed name is for your protection as it enables GMAC to monitor your communications to GradSelect contacts, preventing CAN SPAM and privacy violations. There is no cost to you for the seed name and it should not be removed from your downloaded searches.

I am working with a marketing organization. Can I give them access to our GradSelect account to run searches on our behalf?

Yes, third-party service providers may use your GradSelect account if they have a signed agreement containing confidentiality and other obligations at least as restrictive as those contained in the GradSelect Terms of Use Agreement.

May I survey candidates?

Yes, as long as the survey is school-sponsored and the research study is related to graduate management education

How can I get more help?

If you have questions, feel free to contact GradSelect Support at gradselect@gmac.com or call us at +1 (703) 668-9606. We can direct your inquiries to the appropriate team member and we’ll get you set up.

Types of GradSelect Candidates

What are the types of leads in GradSelect?

There are three types of leads in GradSelect:
  1. Early Profiles: candidates who opted into GradSelect and have only shared minimal information such as name, email address, and their current location, but did not complete their registration
  2. Full Profile leads: Candidates who opted into GradSelect with two or more data points
  3. Full Profiles with Score: Candidates who opted into GradSelect and have a full profile and have as well as a GMAT test score

Why would a school be interested in purchasing Early Profile leads?

These candidates are highly interested in learning more about graduate management education and the various types of programs available from schools. Since they are earlier in their decision-making process, they are less settled in their choices and more open to new introductions. They are also active in their consideration of business school: roughly half of these candidates have engaged with our free GMAT Prep material. Read this case study of a school that found success marketing to these Early Profiles.

What type of background information do we have about the Early Profile leads?

Due to their early place in the decision-making process, there is limited data available: email address, first name, and location by country, city, and state.

What if an Early Profile lead becomes a Full Profile or Full Profile with Score, will a school receive the update?

Yes, profile upgrades are free with GradSelect! To ensure you receive the upgraded profile, select “Purchase names with updated profiles” when finalizing your GradSelect search. The updated lead will be included in your download file at that time.

Other

How does GradSelect present the consent option for candidates to opt into GradSelect?

A candidate is presented with a description of the GradSelect service with a checkbox, indicating they would like to be connected with schools and strategic partners of GMAC. We share the details of who can access GradSelect, what data is shared, and so on here. Additionally, in the GradSelect Terms of Use, we indicate that participating organizations must comply with applicable law, provide you with their contact information, and allow you to change or withdraw your communication preferences. Candidates may change their communication preferences or unsubscribe from GradSelect by logging into their account and updating their mba.com profile or by contacting GMAC Customer Care.
