Verbal Section

Three types of multiple-choice questions are used in the Verbal section: Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction.

The Verbal section of the GMAT exam, consisting of 36 questions to be completed in 65 minutes, measures the test taker's ability to:

  • Read and comprehend written material
  • Reason and evaluate arguments
  • Correct written material to conform to standard written English

The Verbal and Quantitative scores range from 6 to 51. Scores below 6 and above 51are rare.

The Verbal and Quantitative scores measure different constructs and are not comparable to each other.
