RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - Dec 11, 2012) -  Graduate Management Admission Council has admitted The School of Business at American University in Cairo as its latest member institution.

"We are very pleased to welcome AUC. As our first member school in Egypt and our third member school on the African continent, AUC helps us further our efforts to promote the development of quality management education globally," said Julia Tyler, GMAC's vice president for Global Market Development. "As our 206th member globally, AUC also becomes an important contributor to GMAC's vision of connecting talented candidates -- wherever in the world they might be -- with the opportunity to gain the education and experience they need to go on to careers that matter and to the careers they deserve."

AUC was founded in 1919 by Americans devoted to education and community service in the Middle East. AUC School of Business joins business and management schools from leading universities and institutions who are members of GMAC, the administrator of the GMAT exam, used as part of the admissions process at graduate management and education programs worldwide.

Dr. Khaled Dahawy, the Director of the MBA programs, said: "Our GMAC membership is another example of the school's commitment to high quality education. We are the first school in Egypt to be granted this membership, through which we have access to research and market intelligence, marketing and recruiting tools and programs, worldwide professional development opportunities, and innovative grant initiatives provided by GMAC."

GMAC's Board of Directors approved the membership of AUC at its September 2012 Board Meeting.
