'Think Like an Entrepreneur' 2019

Contest Updates from the Key Initiatives Director, Americas

“Think Like an Entrepreneur” 2019 – And the winner is...!

This Spring, the Graduate Management Admission Council invited undergrads in the US to solve a social issue while motivating others to join their effort. Our goal was to help students connect the dots between social impact through business and the skills needed to do so successfully.

Meet Michael Lai, the grand prize winner of the “Think Like an Entrepreneur” 2019 competition! After a tight competition for a top 10 spot and securing his win during the peer voting phase, Michael walked away with a cool $10,000 to put towards his company, Cress Health, an app that leverages mobile technology to help people fight addiction.

As a biology major in the class of 2021, Michael discovered the competition through the Center for Entrepreneurship at Hofstra University. He indicated that he has benefited greatly from the mentorship program through IdeaHUB and hopes to become a mentor in the future, particularly for non-business undergrads who might not know they can make a difference now, if only they had the business skills needed for success.

GMAC is committed to exposing college students to the world of business and will continue to run engagements like the “Think Like an Entrepreneur” campaign.

Many thanks to the schools that promoted the contest to their undergrads!
