Insights from the Field – Spring 2019

by Kailin Burns

With the start of 2019 well under way (how is it already March?), the Market Development team has been busy meeting with school partners and introducing many of them to The Executive Assessment. Launched in 2016, the EA is a 40-question, 90-minute assessment that requires on average 20-30 hours of preparation.

As of today, there are 55 schools that are using EA in their admission process and that includes over 70 EMBA programs, 10 Part-Time MBA programs, 10 Executive MS programs and 2 Online MBA programs. Since March 2016, nearly 5,000 assessments have been delivered with over 1,600 in North America.

When working with schools to determine if the Executive Assessment is a viable fit for their non-EMBA programs (Executive Masters, online, part-time), Market Development Managers help the admissions team understand that EA is an alternative for those candidates that are requesting a GMAT waiver. We (the GMAC reps) also inform them that studies have shown the EA’s reduced prep time has enabled test takers to move more rapidly through the application process.  These same studies have highlighted that test takers would have delayed their application if they had to take a different assessment.   Current EA accepting schools are reporting greater engagement from test takers which is translating into a higher likelihood of application and enrollment.

Other commonly reported admissions outcomes include:

  1. EA has offered an attractive alternative to the GMAT and GRE and a path to waiver elimination

  2. EA has helped grow the applicant pools

  3. EA has helped return higher conversion rates

  4. EA has helped expand applicant diversity

  5. EA has helped accelerate the application process

  6. EA has helped grow the applicant pools

The Executive Assessment offers a distinct candidate experience which includes unlimited score sends, no rescheduling fees, and the delivery of official score reports to both schools and candidates within 24 hours.  Just like the GMAT, the EA is available through the PearsonVue Centers.

If you would like to learn more and see if the Executive Assessment could be a fit for your institution, please contact your Market Development Manager.
