Differential Validity and Differential Prediction of the GMAT™ Exam

June 19, 2017

Overview

Because group differences are often observed on scores of standardized tests, the fairness of using scores for admissions selection is often questioned. Validity studies for different groups of test takers provide evidence for the appropriate interpretation of test scores to promote responsible and fair use of scores. This research report produced by the Psychometric Research Department at GMAC looks at the question of differential validity and differential prediction of GMAT exam scores in addition to another major factor in admissions, undergraduate grade point average (UPGA), relative to grades in graduate business programs.
