Findings show solid 2016 hiring numbers and strong employer demand for graduate management talent in 2017

2016 Employer Poll Report Cover, large thumbnailOur annual Year-End Poll of Employers reveals solid 2016 hiring numbers for recent b-school graduates and strong employer demand for these candidates as part of companies’ 2017 hiring plans.  

The 2016 Year-End Poll of Employers gathered employment information from participating employers to provide a recap of actual 2016 hiring outcomes and an early picture of the 2017 hiring outlook for graduate business students worldwide. The results give participating employers benchmarking statistics and provide business schools and students with an advance look at job market prospects. In 2016, 167 recruiters representing 140 companies located in 27 countries worldwide responded to this study. Respondents included 36 companies in the Fortune 500, 21 of which are Fortune 100 companies.

Key Findings from the 2016 Poll

  • Employer sentiment strong for B-school graduates. Nearly 8 in 10 employers (79%) expect to hire MBA graduates in 2017, compared with 68 percent that hired these candidates in 2016.
  • Starting salaries in 2017 expected to increase for business graduates. 

    Among employers who plan to hire MBA candidates next year, more than half (58%)

     plan to increase annual starting salaries for these candidates at or above the rate of inflation in 2017.
  • MBA internships plentiful in 2017. Among companies that offer internships, 66 percent plan to offer internships to MBA students iin 2017. Of these companies 82 percent plan to increase or maintain the number of MBA internship openings in 2017.
