BCG Consultant Salary | What Could You Earn At The Boston Consulting Group?

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is ranked among the most prestigious consulting firms to work for. One of the renowned Big Three consultancies, BCG is also a major recruiter of MBA and business master's graduates.

BCG hires from top US business schools including MIT Sloan, Kellogg School of Management, and Columbia Business School. You can also find graduates from the likes of INSEAD, London Business School, and the Indian School of Business working at BCG's offices across the globe. 

Along with the opportunity to work at the cutting-edge of business, a typical BCG consultant salary hits a lucrative six-figures. 

Despite continuing a freeze in starting salaries in 2025, along with the other Big Three management consulting firms—Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company—BCG remains one of the top consulting firms when it comes to compensation.

BCG consultant salary and bonus

One of the key attractions of joining the Boston Consulting Group is the BCG consultant salary prospects awaiting successful candidates. An incoming master’s hire can expect a starting base salary of $110,000 at BCG. MBA graduates can expect a lucrative $190,000 per year as a starting salary. Both salaries are marginally ($2,000) lower than the equivalent for new starters at McKinsey and Bain.

However, master’s graduates can also expect to earn a bonus of up to $22,500 in their first year at the company, bringing their total compensation up to $132,000. MBA graduates could earn additional bonuses of $60,000, which makes their total average compensation $270,000. That figure has remained the same for three consecutive years.

According to Management Consulted, in top consulting firms you can typically expect a 10 to 20% increase in your base compensation and/or performance bonus each year. That may be even higher if you get promoted.

By your third year at BCG you could be earning anywhere between $220,000 and $240,000 in base salary, with an additional $100,000 to $140,000 in bonuses.

Joining BCG comes with added perks that make landing a job after graduation even more lucrative. In the past, the firm has been listed among the world's best companies to work for by Glassdoor.

Master’s graduates in the US can expect 15 days of PTO per year—though this is the lowest among the Big Three. They also receive up to $4,400 per year in their 401k retirement account as part of a profit-sharing initiative for employees.

MBA hires are also given 15 days of paid time off a year at BCG. They receive an interest-free relocation payment of up to $6,000, and $10,930 per year into their 401k retirement fund.

Former BCG consultants say the skills they picked up at business school stood them in good stead for their role.

Zia Siddiqui, EU Business School MBA, said: "My department at BCG were looking for someone who could start immediately and I got my contract just after finishing my MBA. [To get a job at BCG] you need to possess the right amount of business knowledge and experience. It’s a prerequisite."
