Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) needs no introduction. Informally named the ‘Harvard Business School of China’, this top-ranked business school prepares ambitious business leaders from across the world to take on top jobs across Asia and beyond.
Tsinghua Global MBA is a full-time English program offered by Tsinghua SEM, located in Beijing, China. It is a two-year full-time English program formed in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School of Management (MIT Sloan). Collaboration with MIT Sloan
The partnership between Tsinghua SEM and MIT Sloan began in 1996 and the collaboration has deepened over time.

Tsinghua Global MBA: Program requirements
Since the Tsinghua Global MBA program is one of the best in China and globally, it’s no surprise that it’s highly competitive to land a place in this program.
International applicants will need to apply with an undergraduate degree from a recognized university, a competitive GMAT or GRE score, and those with an undergraduate degree must bring at least three years’ post-graduation work experience. Applicants with a master's degree or doctorate should have at least two years' post-graduation work experience.
Applicants will need to apply through the Tsinghua MBA online application and complete the relevant materials, including MBA resume, recommendation letters, and a personal statement.

Tsinghua Global MBA: Academic and curriculum
In the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025, Tsinghua SEM's Thought Leadership score is 94.3, which means that it ranks first in Asia and 10th globally. This metric is based on QS Academic Reputation (10%), Research Impact (2.5%), and the percentage of faculty with a PhD (2.5%), reflecting the program's academic reputation and excellence.
Tsinghua emphasizes connections with industry experts and offers core courses in Managerial Communication, Organizational Behavior, Corporate Finance, Marketing, Accounting, and Data Analytics. The China and the World module includes courses like the Chinese Economy and Global Technology Strategy.
A key feature of Tsinghua's Global MBA is its collaboration with industry leaders, notably through the China Roots Seminar, which educates international students on China's societal and economic landscape. Experiential learning is emphasized through Integrative Practical Projects (IPP), allowing students to work on experiential consulting projects for companies in China.
The Tsinghua SEM Advisory Board Course—Leadership in a New Era (McKinsey Global Leadership Course)—brings CEOs of globally renowned corporations and senior partners leading McKinsey global practices into the classroom.

Tsinghua Global MBA: Career support
Tsinghua SEM ranks first in Asia and 14th globally for 'Return on Investment' (ROI), with a score of 97.8. The school also performed well on the 'Employability' metric, ranking second in Asia and 30th globally in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025. In the Class of 2023, GMBA grads achieved an employment rate of almost 97% and a 99.8% average salary increase. 70% MBA students successfully changed in industry or job function after graduation.
Tsinghua MBA students can access tailored career support. Tsinghua University and Tsinghua SEM both have a career center dedicated to supporting Tsinghua students in discovering their career prospects, identifying their career goals, and refining their professional skills. The career center also aims to bridge the gap between students and potential employers, creating more career opportunities. There are bilingual staff dedicated to assisting international students.
Students will benefit from a variety of resources, including company campus presentations, recruitment events, job postings, as well as various career training services such as one-on-one career counseling and evaluation, mock interview sessions, career courses and trips, and professional skill seminars.
Entrepreneurs can also find many career resources and supports at Tsinghua. There are MBA courses such as the Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA Innovation Based Entrepreneurship Course—led by professors from Tsinghua SEM and MIT Sloan, the course consists of theory and practice modules that lay a solid and deep understanding of the core strategic challenges facing start-up innovators.
Tsinghua also provides mentoring and incubation support for entrepreneurs through innovation platform ‘x-lab’, as well as many different startup competitions on campus.
Tsinghua Global MBA: Class profile
The students in the Tsinghua Global MBA Class of 2026 are a diverse group, coming from China, the United States, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Vietnam, Russia, Poland, and several other countries. Being part of a diverse MBA class can be highly advantageous, making for a more enriching classroom environment where topics such as ‘the Chinese economy in the world’ and ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Insights from Silicon Valley’ can be discussed from different perspectives.
On average, students bring around 5.5 years of work experience, with the average age at 29. Working among a talented group of people with several years of professional experience under their belt means that students will have access to a strong business network from the very first day of the Tsinghua Global MBA program.
The top pre-MBA industries represented include technology (18%), financial services (18%), and investment (16%).
The high number of MBA students from the tech sector is likely due to Tsinghua University’s strengths in technology and science. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Tsinghua University ranked 11th globally and first in Asia for engineering and technology. Meanwhile, Tsinghua ranked 16th globally and second in Asia for natural sciences.

Angel Cheng (pictured below) is living proof of Tsinghua’s holistic approach to business education. Upon entering the Tsinghua Global MBA, Angel had previously worked as a senior subject matter expert (SME) for financial derivatives valuation in Canada.
She says that the highly experiential nature of the Tsinghua Global MBA helped her build skills in areas such as innovation and entrepreneurship, which helped her grow as a business professional.
“I go by the 20/80 rule,” she says, “20% is the knowledge you gain from textbooks and 80% is what you learn alongside and with your colleagues and peers.”

She even had the chance to work on a global strategic business plan with Lenovo—a world leading tech company.
Armed with a strengthened technological mindset and sharpened business acumen from her Tsinghua Global MBA in China and MSMS program at MIT in the US, along with an expanded network in both countries, Angel secured a position at FTI Consulting in New York City.
“My studies in China and the US gave me the confidence, skills, and opportunity to transition into a career in consulting,” she concludes.

Tsinghua Global MBA: Costs and MBA scholarships
The Tsinghua Global MBA program costs 198,000 RMB (around US $28k) in tuition fees.
Up to full-tuition scholarships will be granted on both merits and need basis. Scholarships are mainly categorized into three types: Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), Tuition Scholarship, and MBA Program Scholarships.
