HEC Paris Tops FT Best European Business Schools Ranking (Again!)
HEC Paris tops the Financial Times European Business Schools Ranking 2021 for a third consecutive year as French schools dominate

HEC Paris has been named the best business school in Europe for a third consecutive year in the 2021 Financial Times European Business Schools Ranking released today.
The annual ranking of the best European business schools is based on the performance of schools across five of the FT’s leading b-school rankings—MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in Management (MiM), and Custom and Open executive education programs.
The HEC Paris MBA was ranked the fourth best in Europe by the FT in 2021; its EMBA ranked number one in Europe; and its MiM degree ranked second.
HEC Paris ranked second and fourth respectively in Europe for its open and custom executive education programs in 2020.
France dominates FT European Business Schools Ranking
FT business school rankings score schools based on graduate outcomes, which include post-degree salary and career progression, as well as the quality of research, and international and gender diversity of students, faculty, and school governing bodies.
That HEC Paris claimed top spot in the best European business schools ranking is an indicator that even in a pandemic-hit year, the school continues to deliver a strong return on investment for its students across the board.
HEC Paris is also one of 22 French schools in a ranking of 95 business schools across Europe, a sign that the continent has a dominant player when it comes to graduate management education.
Alongside HEC Paris in top spot, INSEAD comes in as the third best business school in Europe; Essec Business School sits in eighth; Edhec Business School is joint-10th; ESCP Business School is 14th; and EMLyon is 19th.
The UK is France’s closest competitor when it comes to the best European business schools, according to the FT. The UK has 19 schools in the ranking, compared with France’s 22.
Outside the top 20, France continues to perform well and is home to a number of schools also ranked between 20th and 50th in the ranking.
Audencia Business School sits in 31st place; Grenoble Ecole de Management is in 36th place; Kedge Business School is 40th; Neoma Business School ranks 44th; and Skema Business School is 48th.
