The Top 10 Private MBA Colleges In India

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) list of the best MBA colleges in India is dominated by public schools such as the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

Public MBA colleges in India have a long history of producing impressive alumni and may offer lower fees thanks to subsidies from the government.

However, private MBA colleges in India also have a lot to offer, including closer links with multinational corporations and consistently strong placement rates for their graduates.

While the Indian School of Business—India’s highest-ranked institution in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking—did not participate in the NIRF ranking, several other private institutions continue to deliver high-quality business programs.

Here, we break down the top 10 private MBA colleges in India according to the NIRF ranking, including details on their entry requirements, curriculum, and post-MBA salaries.

Unless stated otherwise, all the schools on this list offer a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and require candidates to have a bachelor’s degree with at least a 50% grade to enter.

10. Amity University

Fees: INR 15,80,000 ($17,900)

Amity University is an internationally-recognized institution. As well as its MBA program being ranked in the top 40 programs in India within the 2025 NIRF list, its online MBA is one of the best in India, ranking higher than any other Indian program in the QS Online MBA rankings.

Electives offered in the program are wide ranging, including topics like leadership, influence, and power, product and brand management.

Applicants need a minimum GMAT score of 550 (equivalent to around 525 under the new GMAT scoring system), MAT score of 650, or CMAT score of 200 to be eligible for entry.

9. Chandigarh University

Fees: INR 6,16,000 ($7,000)

The MBA program at Chandigarh University is highly-regarded in India, placing 32nd overall in the 2025 NIRF ranking, however the school’s tuition fees are the lowest in this list.

The curriculum is more varied than your typical MBA, with modules on topics such as Marketing Management, Business Intelligence & Data Analytics, International Business, Human Resource Management, Finance, and Entrepreneurship. 

And with the likes of Amazon, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG all known recruiters of Chandigarh MBA graduates, you’ll also have solid career prospects after graduation.

8. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

Fees: INR 9,70,000 ($11,000)

A two-year program, the MBA at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) ranks in the top 30 universities in India according to the 2025 NIRF ranking. 

To be eligible for the program, you must be a graduate in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks from any recognized Indian university. You’ll also require a valid score from one of the following national entrance examinations: KIITEE Management, CAT, XAT, CMAT, or MAT.

At INR 9,30,000 ($10,500), KIIT can offer one of the highest average graduate salaries of any university in this list.

7. Siksha `O` Anusandhan

Fees: INR 7,50,000 ($8,500)

Siksha `O` Anusandhan University (SOA) is one of only four Indian universities to appear in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2025, and the only private Indian institution. It ranks seventh in the best private MBA colleges in India, according to the NIRF ranking.

Besides the general MBA offered by the school, candidates can also take on  specialized programs in Hospital Administration, Hospitality Management, or Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

6. Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences

Fees: INR 7,00,000 ($7,900)

One of the more affordable programs in this list, the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) MBA requires students to hold a bachelor's degree with minimum 60% from a recognized university in any discipline.

The program is notable for having a wide range of specializations available, including Finance, Hospital Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management.

5. S.R.M. Institute of Science and Technology

Fees: INR 9,10,000 ($10,300)

Placing just outside the NIRF ranking' top 20 management institutes in India in 2025, S.R.M. Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) offers a two-year MBA that prepares students for leadership roles in sectors such as business, finance, marketing, human resources, operations, and business analytics.

Besides holding a bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 50%, applicants will also require one to two years of professional work experience. The program places a strong focus on global business, with the curriculum covering topics on international markets, global business strategies, and cross-cultural management. 

4. Vellore Institute of Technology

Fees: INR 6,97,000 ($7,900)

The MBA program at Vellore Institute of Technology is the second-most affordable on this list, yet is ranked as the fourth best private MBA college in India (and the 21st best university overall), according to the NIRF ranking for 2025. 

Professional work experience will be beneficial for your application for this MBA, but not mandatory. You’ll also require a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 60% mark and a test score from any of the following: CAT / XAT / MAT / NMAT / GMAT / CMAT / ATMA.

3. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

Fees: INR 12,00,000 ($13,600)

Accredited by the AACSB and ranked in the top 20 universities in India, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is one of the NIRF’s leading private MBA colleges in India.

In 2024 almost 94% of Amrita School of Business graduates found employment, thanks in part to campus visits from more than 100 leading employers. The program also has international links, with students able to undertake a dual degree in conjunction with the University of Buffalo.

2. Birla Institute of Technology & Science

Fees: INR 12,12,000 ($13,700)

The MBA at Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) specializes in Business Analytics, aiming to equip candidates with the technological know-how to drive measurable business results. Rather than focusing entirely on analytics, the program instead integrates it within all of the traditional MBA disciplines, including marketing, finance, operations, human resources, and entrepreneurship.

BITS graduates command the highest average salary of any school in this list, with average salaries for postgrads coming in at INR 17,00,000 ($19,200).

1. Manipal Academy of Higher Education

Fees: INR 18,40,000 ($20,800)

The NIRF ranking's top private MBA college in India in 2025 is the Manipal Academy of Higher Education in Udupi.

The school has a range of different MBAs available, including an online option and an evening/weekend program in Dubai. The school’s flagship International MBA gives students the choice of six different electives (Marketing, Finance, Operations Management, Human Resource Management, Healthcare Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation) as well as the option of studying a dual degree at Edinburgh Napier University.

Ranked 14th in the overall NIRF list, you won’t get a higher quality private education anywhere else in India.
