The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is one of the world’s best business schools. Its MBA program is ranked third in the US by US News & World Report, and though the program dropped several places in the Financial Times MBA Ranking this year (to 20th), it remains a world-renowned degree.
Based in the center of Chicago, Booth has a reputation for producing some of the most influential global leaders in technology, finance, and government. Prominent alumni include Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, Kevan Parekh, CFO of Apple, and Joe Mansueto, founder of Morningstar.
This year’s MBA employment statistics reinforce Booth’s reputation for producing highly capable graduates. In total, 89.1% of the 534 graduates seeking employment accepted a job offer within three months of completing the program.
Among those not seeking employment after graduation, 38 planned to start their own businesses, more than the previous year.
But who exactly is hiring Chicago Booth’s MBA graduates? And, with tuition costing more than $175,000 for two years of study, is the Chicago Booth MBA worth it?
Which companies hire Chicago Booth MBA grads?
Each year, Chicago Booth MBAs are hired by a wide variety of companies in sectors as diverse as financial services, healthcare, retail, and technology.
In 2025, the top three recruiters of Chicago Booth MBA graduates were, incidentally, the Big Three consulting firms: Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Company, and Bain & Company. Together, these sector leaders hired over 100 graduates from the Chicago Booth MBA Class of 2025.
Other common recruiters of Chicago Booth MBAs in 2025 were Amazon, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Google. Nearly 50% of MBA hires were at companies hiring four or more graduates, a percentage that has stayed roughly level in the last five graduating classes.
Which industries do Chicago Booth MBAs get hired in?
The most popular industry for Chicago Booth MBA graduates from the Class of 2025 was consulting, as evidenced by the Big Three’s status as the top three hirers of grads. A slightly larger number of MBAs entered the sector in 2025 compared to the previous year
However, consulting was closely followed by financial services, the destination for 31.6% of Booth MBA grads. In addition to these two popular MBA industries, other sectors for graduates included technology (14.1%), healthcare (4.1%), and consumer products (1.7%).
Some Chicago Booth MBA graduates went on to work outside popular industries and established multinationals. Overall, 4% of the class accepted offers with startups in industries including fintech, manufacturing, and biotech.
What is the average salary for Chicago Booth MBA graduates?
MBA tuition fees increased once again between 2024 and 2025, by an average of 3.7% at the world’s top-ranked programs, including the Chicago Booth MBA. Fees total $174,708 for this year, on par with other top-ranked US MBAs. For this outlay, students will hope that their future salary provides significant returns.
On the subject of ROI, students can be hopeful. In 2025, the median starting salary for Booth MBA graduates was $175,000, with a median sign-on bonus of $30,000, figures that have remained roughly the same since last year’s graduate salaries. Overall, 65% of Booth MBA graduates who accepted job offers also received a sign-on bonus.
The highest salaries were reported by graduates working in law, where the median salary reached $225,000. The largest sign-on bonuses were reported in financial services, where students saw an average bonus of $45,000.
The median salary for graduates in financial services was $175,000, and in consulting, $190,000─both on par with 2024 figures. However, the salaries earned by Chicago Booth MBAs varied significantly across the financial services industry. Graduates working in investment banking and private equity reported the highest median salary, $175,000, while graduates in venture capital reported the lowest average salary ($130,000).
For students accepting job offers at startups, salaries were understandably lower than the overall average. Among these students, the median salary was $160,000, though the highest-earning graduates saw startup salaries of $250,000.
Where do Chicago Booth MBA graduates work?
The vast majority of Chicago Booth MBAs in the Class of 2025 accepted jobs in the US (94.9%), earning average reported salaries of $175,000.
Over half (57.4%) of Booth grads who went on to work in the US did so in one of two cities: Chicago or New York. However, almost 20% of MBAs found jobs on the West Coast, with half settling in the Bay Area, home to the famous Silicon Valley.
The remaining 5.1% of Chicago Booth MBA graduates accepted international job offers in 2025. This year, the most popular region among these graduates was Latin America and the Caribbean (2.1%), followed by Asia (1.3%), a reversal of the location spread in 2024, when Asia was the most popular international destination.
