Guidelines for Using GMAC Logos and Brands

GMAC logos identify our products, services, and subsidiaries. They are registered trademarks and owned by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). You may use GMAC logos within the terms posted on this site. The terms may change; if they do you are responsible for complying with any changes.

General

GMAC Logos

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) owns the GMAC, GMAT, and other product logos on this page. GMAC reserves ALL rights to their trademarks and logos. GMAC maintains the right to demand removal of GMAC trademarks or logos from any website, publication, or product. The groups below may use GMAC and NMAT logos including the GMAT logo under the terms stated here. You may not grant licenses to use any GMAC logos, trademarks, and other intellectual property to a third party. 

Logos must: 

  • Remain the original color and shape 
  • Not be combined with other logos or images to form a new image 
  • Include the trademark symbol in any phrase that includes the GMAC logos and trademarks 
  • May only be used in connection with the product that they represent
The following legal attribution must appear at least once within the website or document where the logo is being used: 
The [state which logo you are using] logo is a trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council and. The Graduate Management Admission Council does not endorse, nor is it affiliated in any way with the owner or any content of this [website or publication].

Logo Guidelines for Individual Use

Individuals who are using or writing about GMAC, GMAT, or NMAT exam preparation materials or other products and services in a non-tutor situation should use the product trademarks to describe the product (e.g. GMATPrep software, GMAT Paper Test, GMAT Official Guide, The Official Guide for GMAT Review, etc.). The first instance mentioning the product should include the GMAC brand (e.g. GMAC GMAT exam or GMAC™ GMATPrep™ software).

Test Prep

Logo Use Policy for Test Preparation Companies

Use of GMAT logo, NMAT logo or other test preparation logos:

  • Test preparation companies and individuals who are using GMAT exam preparation materials must use the product trademarks to describe the product (e.g. GMATPrep software, GMAT Paper Tests, GMAT Official Guide, The Official Guide for GMAT Review, etc.).
  • The first instance mentioning the product should include the GMAC brand (e.g., GMAC GMAT exam, GMAC GMATPrep software, or GMAC™ 
    NMAT assessment). 
  • The product logo should ONLY be used for the GMAC product it represents and can only link to a GMAC website.

Test preparation products and services developed by other groups or individuals:

  • Use the GMAT trademark (not the GMAT logo) to describe your products purpose (e.g., Joe’s GMAT test prep program). 
  • Use the NMAT trademark (not the NMAT logo) to describe your products purpose (e.g., Ali's NMAT test prep program).

Using GMAC GMAT products in your preparation course(s):

  • You must use the GMAT trademark or other product logos to indicate the source of the products. 
  • You may not use any GMAC trademark to indicate you have GMAT test questions or in conjunction with your own products or services. 
  • GMAC logos, GMAC GMAT test questions and products may not be incorporated into other products and services (e.g. handouts, videos, new publications, products, etc.).

Using NMAT GMAT products in your preparation course(s):

  • You must use the NMAT trademark or other product logos to indicate the source of the products.
  • You may not use any GMAC trademark to indicate you have NMAT test questions or in conjunction with your own products or services.
  • GMAC logos, GMAC NMAT test questions and products may not be incorporated into other products and services (e.g., handouts, videos, new publications, products, etc.).

Logos must not be altered: 

  • Color and shape cannot be changed 
  • You cannot combine with other logos or images to form a new image 
  • The trademark symbol should be used in any phrase that includes the use of GMAC logos and trademarks

Trademarks and logos may only be used in connection with the product which they represent.

The following legal attribution must appear at least once within the website or document where the logo is being used: 

The [state which logo you are using] logo is a trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council and. The Graduate Management Admission Council does not endorse, nor is it affiliated in any way with the owner or any content of this [website or publication].

Compliance

GME Admissions Reporting Standards Compliance Badge

Schools should use the compliance badge to indicate the data being reported in their marketing collateral and on digital properties aligns with the GME Admissions Reporting Standards. The badge should only be used for programs in compliance with these Standards.

The badge:

  • Should appear as is; color and shape cannot be changed
  • Cannot be combined with other logos or shapes to form a new image

Schools

GMAC Logo Use Policy for GMAC Member & Non Member Schools

For GMAC Member Schools 

GMAC Member schools may use the GMAC Member logo to show they are a committed supporting member of the Graduate Management Admission Council. 

Only schools who have been approved by the GMAC Board of Directors can use the GMAC member logo.  

Member schools who want to demonstrate GMAC membership may use the GMAC member logo on their websites and in their view books and other marketing materials. The GMAC member school logo may be used in all print and electronic mediums for the purpose of promoting your schools membership in the Council. The logo may also be used as a link to gmac.com. 

The following legal attribution must appear at least once within the website or document where the logo is being used: 

The GMAC Member School logo is a trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council and is used with permission.
 GMAC Member Logo Policies: 
  • The GMAC Member logo must appear the same color and shape and cannot be edited 
  • It cannot be combined with other logos or images to form a new image 
  • The trademark symbol should be used in any phrase that includes the GMAC logos and trademarks

Trademarks and logos may only be used in connection with the product which they represent

GMAC Non Member Schools 

Institutions which are not GMAC Members may not use the GMAC Member logo but are able to use GMAC products and services under the same guidelines that test prep companies follow. 

Use of GMAT Accepting Logo or GMAT Required Logo for GMAT Using & Non-Using Programs

GMAT Using

Any school which receives official GMAT exam results and uses the scores as a part of their admission process may use the GMAT Accepting logo, GMAT Preferred logo or GMAT Required logo to show they accept or require GMAT scores for their admission process. 

The following legal attribution must appear at least once on each page of the website or document where the logo is displayed: 

The GMAT [accepting or required] logo is a trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council.
The GMAT Accepting and GMAT Required logos can be hyperlinked to www.gmat.com.

The logo can be used on all print and electronic materials for the purpose of promoting your program’s use of the GMAT exam as part of your admissions process. The GMAT Accepting logo, GMAT Preferred logo or GMAT Required logos can be downloaded for web or printed use. 

  • You must use the following qualifier which must be displayed at least once on the website or document where the logo is used: The GMAT exam is part of our admissions process. 

Logos must:

  • Appear the same, color and shape cannot be changed 
  • Not be combined with other logos or images to form a new image 
  • The trademark symbol should be used in any phrase that includes the GMAC logos and trademarks

Trademarks and logos may only be used in connection with the product which they represent

Non GMAT Using Schools 

Schools who do not receive official GMAT exam results as a part of their admission process may not use the GMAT Accepting or GMAT Required logos. Schools wishing to receive GMAT scores should visit the Start Accepting GMAT Scores page.

NMAT Using Schools

Use of NMAT Accepting Logo or NMAT Required Logo for NMAT Using & Non-Using Programs

Any school which receives office NMAT exam results and uses the scores as part of their admission process may use the NMAT Accepting logo, NMAT Preferred logo or NMAT Required logo to show they accept or require NMAT scores for their admission process. The NMAT logos can be downloaded for web or printed use.

The following legal attribution must appear at least once on each page of the website or document where the logo is displayed:

The NMAT [accepting or required] logo is a trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council. 
The NMAT Accepting and NMAT Required logos can be hyperlinked to www.nmat.org.in

Media

Logo Guidelines for Media Use

The media who are writing about GMAC, the GMAT exam, or GMAT preparation materials must use the product and services trademarks to describe the product they are referring to (e.g. GMATPrep software, GMAT™ Paper Test, GMAT Official Guide, or The Official Guide for GMAT Review, etc.). The first instance mentioning the product should include the GMAC brand (e.g., GMAC GMAT exam or GMAC GMATPrep software). 

When publishing a GMAC press release or other articles pertaining to the Graduate Management Admission Council or the Graduate Management Admission Test the GMAC logo may be used to show the source of the article or identify the company and its products and services. 

Logos must:

  • Appear the same, color and shape cannot be edited
  • Not be combined with other logos or images to form a new image 
  • Included with the trademark symbol in any phrase that includes the GMAC logos and trademarks

Trademarks and logos may only be used in connection with the product which they represent

The following legal attribution must appear at least once within the website or document where the logo is being used:

Businesses

Logo Guidelines for Businesses & Corporations

Any business/corporation with whom we have a business relationship for bulk orders, grants, sponsorships, or partnerships should enter into an agreement with GMAC to govern the use of copyrights, trademarks, logos, patents, etc. Please contact us for further information.

To ensure consistency and maintain the integrity of our visual identity, please adhere to the above guidelines when using our logos and branded assets. If you require additional versions of our logos or have specific branding requests, please contact our brand and creative services team at mmorris@gmac.com.
