  • University of Maryland receives gift to support MBA scholarships. The University of Maryland has received $10 million from the Robert H. Smith Family Foundation to support MBA scholarships, undergraduate leadership programs, and facility enhancements for the Robert H. Smith School of Business. The gift will also continue to fund the school's Center for Social Value Creation. A portion of the gift will go toward an MBA Scholarship Fund. The gift will also help the Smith Undergraduate Office develop innovative programs to enhance leadership learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom experience. Lastly, the gift will fund facility renovations at the business school. Upgrades will include new, dedicated space for specific programs or classroom re-designs to allow for more group discussion and interaction. 

  • Muma College of Business receives donation from Collier family. The University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business will use a $10.9 million donation from Barry and Dana Collier to rename its student center the Collier Student Success Center. The donation is the latest in a series of gifts made to USF and the Tampa campus' business college in particular. In 2014, the school was renamed for Les and Pam Muma after their record $25 million donation to the university. The Colliers' $10.9 million gift expands on their recent contributions to the college, including $300,000 over the past six years to fund the Collier Scholarship, which has been awarded to more than 70 business students. The couple also has contributed to the corporate mentor program, which helps students who are the first in their families to attend college.

  • UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School launches ninth annual business journalism awards. The school has recently launched its ninth annual Business Journalism Awards, in association with Eircom Wholesale. The awards recognize excellence in print, broadcast, and online business journalism. Winners of each category will be honored at a ceremony on Monday, November 30, and will each receive a €1,000 prize.
