  • Cal State Northridge receives $10 million gift. California State University, Northridge, has donated $10 million to the school and is promising to raise $15 million more. David Nazarian, a 1982 graduate of Cal State Northridge, has donated $10 million toward funding the business school, which has been named the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics. Nazarian was a business administration major who made his fortune in wireless communications. 

  • The University of Utah receives $12 million. The University of Utah Business School received a $12 million dollar gift from Pierra Lassonde, which brings the total amount he has given the university to $25 million. The donation will be used for a transformative building for student entrepreneurs. Estimated to cost $45 million, the 148,000-square-feet facility will unite 412 residences with a 20,000-square-foot “garage” space for students to gather, build prototypes, and launch companies. The facility will be called the Lassonde Studios: Live. Create. Launch. Groundbreaking is scheduled for fall 2014, with students moving in fall 2016.
