  • Queen’s Revamps MBA: Queen’s School of Business at Queen’s University has redesigned its 12-month MBA program. The new approach includes improved options for students to specialize in such areas as finance, consulting, entrepreneurship, and marketing. Students who specialize will earn both a Queen’s MBA and a graduate certificate in their area of specialization. Students can also apply qualifying MBA credits toward a second, specialized master’s degree in law or a business-focused discipline.

  • Business Schools Support Indigenous Economic Development: Two business schools have recently announced work to support indigenous peoples. To bolster economic development among Australia’s indigenous peoples, Melbourne Business School (MBS) has teamed with two organizations to deliver a class aimed at helping indigenous entrepreneurs and managers expand their business and grow employment opportunities in their communities. Designed by the Asia-Pacific Social Impact Leadership Centre at MBS, the program also includes mentoring that continues after the class ends. And in North America, the government of Canada has allocated C$5 million to support Aboriginal business studies at Cape Breton University. The funds will extend the work of the Purdy Crawford Chair in Aboriginal Business Studies, which promotes interest among Canada’s indigenous people in the study of business at the post-secondary level and conducts research on Aboriginal communities.

  • GWU Creates Certificate in Sports Philanthropy: The George Washington University School of Business has created the first-ever certificate in sports philanthropy. The program will teach the mechanics of harnessing the power of professional sports and athletes to leverage long-term and sustainable philanthropic impact. Students in the program will work in-residence with the Philadelphia Eagles’ Eagles Youth Partnership and will take courses online. 

  • HKUST Partners on MBA with Saudi Aramco: Saudi Aramco and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School have partnered to launch an MBA program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The program will provide advanced education in leadership and management to employees of Saudi Aramco and, longer term, to the company’s business partners in the region.

  • Mason School Launches Global Immersion with Fudan University: Beginning this fall, the College of William & Mary’s Mason School of Business executive MBA program is offering a new approach to the global immersion portion of its curriculum. The program has established a relationship with Fudan University in which incoming EMBA students will spend a week during the fall semester of their first year studying and learning Chinese business principles from leading scholars at Fudan’s School of Management in Shanghai. At the end of the EMBA program, students will select another country for a weeklong experiential learning trip.
