Biz Buzz: People on the Move

  • Sam Beldona has been appointed Dean of the School of Business and Leadership at Dominican University of California. Previously the Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business at Bryant University, Beldona earned his BS in physics and an MBA in general management from Karnatak University, and an MS in international business and a PhD in business administration from Temple University.

  • Doug Cerf has been named Interim Dean of the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University. The area chair for accounting and business law at the college, Cerf earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley and a master’s in economics and a doctorate in accounting at the University of California, Davis.

  • Lawrence Crosby has been appointed the Henry Y. Hwang Dean of Claremont Graduate University’s Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, where he will also serve as a Professor of Management. Most recently Dean of the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, Crosby earned his bachelor’s degree, MBA, and doctoral degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.

  • Jondavid “J.D.” S. DeLong has been named Dean of the School of Business and Liberal Arts at the State University of New York at Canton. A legal studies faculty member at the school,  DeLong has a BA from Vassar College and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Buffalo.

  • Sean Ferguson has been named Associate Dean of Master’s Programs and Director of MBA Programs at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology School of Business and Management effective in August. Formerly Assistant Dean for degree programs at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, Ferguson earned his BS in engineering from the University of Michigan and his MBA from Rice University.

  • Phil Frese has been named Dean of the Clarion University College of Business Administration. Formerly Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, N.J., and a past Dean of the School of Business at Quinnipiac University, Frese holds a PhD in accounting and business management from Drexel University.

  • Dave Harris has been appointed as Director of the full-time MBA program at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. Formerly CEO of University Prep Café, a college- and career-readiness company he founded, Harris earned his BA at the University of Washington and his MA in management and doctor of jurisprudence from Willamette University,

  • Ravi Kumar has been tapped to be Dean of the Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University. Most recently based at the University of Southern California’s Marshall Business School, where among other positions he was Vice Dean for international programs and for graduate programs, Kumar earned his bachelor of technology degree at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, his MS in industrial engineering from the University of Texas, and his PhD at Northwestern University.

  • Philip B. Lee has been named Interim Dean of the Udvar-Hazy School of Business and the School of Communication at Dixie State University. A member of the DSU business faculty for more than 30 years, Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Southern Utah University, a master’s degree in marketing/distributive education from Utah State University, and his EdD in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University.

  • Michael Malone has been appointed Associate Dean for the MBA Program at Columbia Business School. Previously Managing Director of the career management center at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Malone earned his master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Ivan Manev has been named Dean of the Maine Business School at the University of Maine. Previously Interim Dean of the school and a member of the UMaine faculty since 1997, Manev earned his PhD in management/organizational studies from Boston College.

  • Michael Lane Morris has been appointed Associate Dean for undergraduate programs and student affairs in the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. A professor of management at the school, Morris earned his BS at Lee University and his PhD from the University of Tennessee.

  • Laurence P. Murphy has been named the Carol L. Newcomb-Alutto Executive Director of Executive Education at the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. Joining Fisher from Harvard Business School, where he led the executive education custom programs group for more than five years, Murphy holds a BS from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard.

  • Barbara Ostdiek has been named Associate Dean for programs at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. An associate professor of finance at the school, Ostdiek earned her BA in international affairs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her PhD in business administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

  • Mark Parker has been named Associate Dean of undergraduate affairs at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. Formerly Associate Dean and Associate Professor of mathematics at Carroll College in Montana, Parker earned his BA in mathematics/computer science and his MS and PhD in applied mathematics at the University of Colorado, Denver.

  • Richard Raatzsch has been appointed Interim Dean of EBS Business School and Vice President of EBS Universität. A professor at the school, he earned a doctorate from the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg and went on to complete his postdoctoral teaching qualification.

  • Tyvi Small has been named Director of the newly created Office of Diversity and Community Relations at the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Small, who joined UT in 2007 and founded the college’s Business Education for Talented Students program, earned his bachelor’s degree in communication and ME in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Florida.

  • Rajeev Tyagi has been appointed Interim Dean of the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine. Tyagi, who had been serving as the school’s Senior Associate Dean, holds a BS in electronics engineering from National Institute of Technology, Surat, an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and an MA and PhD in marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

  • David J. Urban has been named Dean of the Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University. Formerly Executive Associate Dean and a marketing professor at the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University, Urban holds a BS from the University of Virginia and an MA in psychology and PhD in business administration from the University of Michigan

  • Barbara Wheeling has been appointed as Dean of the College of Business at Montana State University Billings. Formerly the associate dean of business at Emporia State University in Kansas, Wheeling holds a BS in animal science from North Dakota State University, an MBA from the University of Wyoming, and a doctoral degree in accounting from the University of Alberta.

  • Rosemary Wild has been appointed as Interim Associate Dean of the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University. The area chair for management in the college, Wild holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English, a master’s in systems and industrial engineering and a doctorate in management information systems from the University of Arizona.

  • Donovan Woollard has been appointed as Director of RADIUS Ventures, a new interdisciplinary social innovation lab and venture incubator at the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University. Woollard, who previously was a principal at Transom Enterprises, earned his BA and MBA at the University of British Columbia.
