GMAC/Student Veterans Partnership

Student Veterans of America Agreement

The Graduate Management Admission Council and the Student Veterans of America have entered a partnership to help both groups better provide student veterans the resources and support they need to succeed in management education and beyond.

“The Student Veterans of America is the largest student veterans group in the US. SVA has more than 700 chapters, most of whom are undergraduates, and many of them are very interested in pursuing a degree in business,” said Joanna Graham, GMAC director of field marketing.

At SVA’s national conference in Orlando in January, numerous speakers touted the value of the MBA for military veterans, including US Veteran Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, who gave the keynote, Graham noted.

Under the partnership, GMAC will have access to SVA networking opportunities and will provide a presentation at SVA’s 2013 Leadership Institute as well as have its veteran-specific initiatives and opportunities featured in a monthly newsletter to all SVA chapters. The partnership will also help the GMAC MET Fund, which is funding three grants aimed at easing veterans’ transition to business school, to get the message about the programs out directly to those who will gain from them.

Through the partnership, GMAC aims to increase the number of military veterans going to graduate business school, Graham said.

”As thousands of veterans earn their undergraduate degrees, we know that countless more will continue their education by pursuing an MBA,” said Michaal Dakduk, SVA’s Executive Director. “Our partnership with GMAC will help these student veterans become the future leaders of corporate America.”
