  • Joseph Cahoon has been named director of Robert and Margaret Folsom Institute for Real Estate at the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business, effective in January. The managing director of the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the University of Texas McCombs School Cahoon earned his MBA and MS at UT Austin.

  • Tom Cervone has joined the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s College of Business Administration as managing director of the Professional MBA program. A leadership development coach for the program since graduating from it in 2010, Cervone received his undergraduate degree in speech and English from West Liberty University in West Virginia and his MFA from the University of Tennessee.

  • Karen O. Dowd has been named assistant dean for career management and corporate engagement at the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. With more than 20 years of experience in career management, Dowd has held high-level positions at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business, Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, and the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business and at a leading human resource management consulting firm. Dowd earned her BA at Saint Mary’s College, an MS in counseling and guidance at Indiana University, and her PhD in educational leadership and policy studies at the University of Virginia.

  • Georg Garlichs has been named chief financial officer of ESMT European School of Management and Technology, effective April 1, 2014. He will also serve as a managing director of the school. Currently chancellor and CFO of EBS University in Wiesbaden/Oestrich-Winkel, Garlichs earned his Vordiplom in business administration at the Universität Passau and his Dipl-Kaufmann/Master of European Management from ESCP Europe.

  • Judith Hennessey has been named dean of California State University, Chico’s College of Business. Most recently interim dean of the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge, Hennessey earned her BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Louisville.

  • Cleveland Justis has been named executive director of the University of California, Davis’s Child Family Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. A nexus for entrepreneurship education and research and springboard for entrepreneurial initiatives at UC Davis, the institute is a Center of Excellence at the Graduate School of Management. Justis, who has worked and consulted widely throughout numerous businesses, nonprofits and governmental organizations, is the co-founder and former director of the Institute at the Golden Gate, part of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. He earned his BA at the University of California, Berkeley, and his MBA at UC Davis.

  • Tiff Macklem has been named dean of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, effective July 1, 2014. Currently senior deputy governor of the Bank of Canada, Macklem earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Queen’s University and his master’s degree and a PhD in economics at the University of Western Ontario.

  • Matthew Myers has been named dean and Mitchell P. Rales Chair in Business Leadership at the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Myers, who had been associate dean of the Center for Executive Education and the Nestlé USA Professor in Marketing at the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, earned his BS at the University of Louisville, his MBA in international business studies at the Moore College of Business at the University of South Carolina, and his PhD in marketing and international business at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University.

  • William Robinson has been named executive director of the Darden/Curry Partnership for Leaders in Education, a collaboration between the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and Curry School of Education. Robinson, who joined PLE in 2010, is a graduate of Harvard Business School and earned his BA in economics from Princeton University.
