  • McCombs School Retools MBA for Working Professionals. The McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin has streamlined and fine-tuned its MBA program for working professionals. Among other changes, the program has added a one-credit-hour course on entrepreneurship and innovation and one additional credit hour on finance. Several residencies have also been added. Textbooks and course materials will be accessed via iPad. While the program continues to require 48 credit hours, its length will condense from 24 months to 22 months for students in Dallas and Houston and from 33 months to 28 months for students in the Austin evening MBA program.

  • NTU Partners on African Studies Center. Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Singapore Business Federation have partnered to establish the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Hosted at NTU’s Nanyang Business School, the center will provide insights on the African markets through research, workshops, and program. Broadly, the center will seek to build knowledge on business, politics, and social economics to strengthen the capabilities of policy makers and businesses for their engagement with Africa. Over the long term, the center hopes to help foster closer relations and understanding between Africa and Southeast Asia.

  • IESE Adds Entrepreneurship Blog. The latest member of the blog family at IESE Business School at the University of Navarra focuses on entrepreneurship. Professor Pedro Nueno launched the blog with a posting entitled, How Long Will the Entrepreneurship Fad Last?, reminding readers about the challenges of launching an entrepreneurial endeavor.

  • Drucker Refines “Practice of Management” Program. The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University recently launched the second year of its Practice of Management program with added features. First-year MBA courses now include intensive assessment and directed coaching. Students work with two coaches, one focused on personal growth and one on team dynamics. Student opportunities to engage in strategic projects are also being expanded. Some students in the program are also part of a pilot assessment designed to measure student’s skill levels when they enter the program and just before they graduate.
