News Briefs Fox School Pioneers MOOCs at Temple. The Fox School of Business will deliver Temple University’s first massive open online course (MOOC), a class in quantitative methods for a business course in the Fox School’s Online MBA program, next month. The free, four-week course will use Blackboard’s teaching and learning platform. Global Network for Advanced Management Offers Two New Courses. The Global Network for Advanced Management announced plans to offer two experimental pilot courses this fall, Analysis of Competition Law and Enforcement across Countries and Mobile Banking Opportunities across Countries. The digital courses were designed to enable students from the network's member schools, located in multiple countries, to work together as they study business issues with global dimensions. Taught by Yale School of Management faculty, the semester-long courses include faculty lectures streamed via the web and virtual project work by student teams spread around the world. IE Business School, a network member, will provide and manage the courses' technology platform. The Global Network for Advanced Management is a consortium of 23 international business schools that connects faculty, students, and deans with their peers worldwide to improve business education in an increasingly globalized world. Maryland Holds Line on Tuition for Third Year. Bucking national trends, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has decided not increase MBA tuition for a third consecutive year. Annual MBA tuition for in-state and out-of-state students will be held steady for 2013-2014. The decision affects some 850 returning full- and part-time MBA students. Rotman Publishes Book on Design Thinking. Over the past decade, the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and Rotman magazine have emerged as leaders in the field of design thinking. Professor Roger Martin and magazine editor Karen Christensen have gathered the magazine’s most celebrated articles about design thinking and business design in a new book, Rotman On Design: The Best on Design Thinking from Rotman Magazine.
