Canada Holds Global Appeal
With flexible labor markets, multicultural cities, and globally recognized graduate management programs, Canada increasingly draws business students and graduates from around the world, according to data from the Graduate Management Admission Council.
A noticeable majority (57 percent) of GMAT score reports sent to Canadian schools came from non-Canadian citizens in the testing year ending June 30, 2011, up from the 49 percent five years earlier, according to GMAC’s upcoming North American Geographic Trend Report, which tracks GMAT volume and score-sending patterns.
“The rise in international student attraction is especially impressive because scores sent to Canada are at a five-year high in total volume of scores received , and eight of nine provinces received a majority of score reports from non-Canadian citizens,” said GMAC researcher Alex Chisholm.
There are slight increases in the proportion of women prospective students, and among candidates younger than 25 sending scores to Canada. Within the country, Ontario continues to receive the most score reports (17,622), followed by British Columbia (4,070), and Quebec (3,527).

- Canada ranks high among the countries where international corporate recruiters want to place new business hires. Some 35 percent Asia-Pacific companies surveyed in the 2012 Corporate Recruiters Survey plan to place new business graduate hires in Canada. Figures for other regions include 26 percent of African and Middle Eastern companies, 10 percent of US companies, and 7 percent of Latin American companies.

Participating schools receive survey results in advance as well as custom interactive benchmarking reports that allow them to compare their data with that of aggregate data from five or more peer schools.
