Call to Action: Nominate Your School for the TeamMBA Award, Sign up for TeamMBA Week

Criteria for the TeamMBA Award for Outstanding Community Service are based on the scope and impact of a school’s combined activities during a specified 12-month period. A committee of school professionals, chaired by Kay Keck, vice president for full-time programs, Thunderbird, will select the award recipient. The winner will be announced in June during a special luncheon presentation at the GMAC® 2008 Annual Industry Conference in Chicago.

The Georgetown University McDonough School of Business was the inaugural recipient last year of this new GMAC award.

Schools Engaging in TeamMBA Week

Meanwhile, business schools are signing up to take part in the first-ever TeamMBA Week, April 21-25, 2008. This special week celebrates the collective contributions that business school students, faculty, and staff make to their communities and charities through action. An international media campaign led by GMAC will tell the stories of participating schools’ strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. Through schools uniting under the TeamMBA banner, this effort is helping to highlight the positive profile of business students and professionals as they contribute their energy, talents, and time to community service and charitable activities.

Business schools at Baylor University, Drexel University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Rutgers University, The Ohio State University, University of Houston-Victoria, University of Rochester, and the University of Virginia are among those committed to this give-back collaboration. Register online to make sure your school is on the list! For more information, see
Whether your school is a veteran participant in TeamMBA, or you’ve just heard about it and want to get involved, you can sign up for TeamMBA Week in three easy steps:

  1. Identify a community project or charity event taking place during the week of April 21, 2008, including the surrounding weekends; or, plan your own activity for that week.
  2. Sign your school up locally to participate in that activity, if required.
  3. Register your activity online at TeamMBA staff will contact you to follow-up.

Remember, too, that Earth Day this year is April 22—the perfect tie-in for your school to plant trees, pick up trash, start a recycling campaign, or put your own good ideas to use to help the environment.
