Dr. Cliff Bowman has been appointed as director of research at Ashridge Business School. Bowman was previously a professor of strategic management and dean of faculty at Cranfield University. He has taught at a number of business schools including INSEAD, Warwick, the Open University, and the Irish Management Institute. He is also a past chairman of the European Case Clearing House. He has an MBA from Liverpool University and a PhD from Cranfield University.

Yash P. Gupta has been appointed the first dean of The Johns Hopkins University's new Carey Business School. Gupta most recently served as dean of the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business from 2004 to 2006. He was dean of the University of Washington Business School from 1999 to 2004 and headed the University of Colorado at Denver College of Business and Administration from 1992 to 1999. Gupta also has served on the faculties of the University of Louisville, University of Manitoba and Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a graduate of Panjab University in India, holds a master's degree in production management from Brunel University, West London, and earned a PhD in management sciences from the University of Bradford in England.

Brenda Knebel returned to Purdue's Krannert School of Management in the role of director of admissions for master’s and executive programs. Knebel comes to Krannert from OnePurdue, where she served as an admissions subject matter expert. Previously, Knebel served as manager of marketing and recruitment for Krannert's full-time MBA and MS programs from 1999–2005.

Tony Sheehan has been appointed director of learning services at Ashridge Business School. Prior to joining Ashridge, Sheehan worked for Arup, a global design and business consulting organization, in a number of positions, including associate director and group knowledge manager. He is an executive advisor to the Advanced Institute of Management Research and a visiting Fellow at Imperial College.

Allen Thompson was recently hired as the director of graduate enrollment management at The University of Denver Daniels College of Business. Prior to joining the staff at DU, Thompson was dean of academic affairs at ITT Technical Institute in Norfolk, Virginia. He has also held managerial positions at DeVry University, Chicago, and Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, GA. Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a master’s degree in professional writing from Kennesaw State University, and is completing his doctoral studies in education and human resource studies at Colorado State University.

Bill Valenta is the new assistant dean for MBA programs at the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business. Previously, he was the assistant chair for the Department of Chemistry. Prior to working at Pitt, he was with the City of Pittsburgh, Bureau of Police, from which he retired as a commander in 2005 after a 22-year career. Valenta graduated from the KGSB Part-Time MBA program in 2002.
