Georgetown Wins Inaugural TeamMBA Award; “TeamMBA Week” Announced

Georgetown “played a key role in the development and launch of the TeamMBA initiative,” said TeamMBA liaison Melissa Knueven. Students from the Georgetown chapter of Net Impact, she added, “exhibited tremendous spirit and tenacity in helping us recruit participants from schools around the country for our first global TeamMBA event in 2005, the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s Tour of Hope DC Ride.”

Commitment from McDonough students, Knueven said, “was critical to getting TeamMBA off the ground and to its continued growth.”

As support for the TeamMBA initiative continues to grow, GMAC is introducing a new project, TeamMBA Week, to help b-schools show their support for the ideals that TeamMBA represents. During the week of April 21, 2008, which includes Earth Day, GMAC encourages business schools around the world to engage their students in a community service project in their area. The idea, Knueven said, is “to show the world on a large scale that MBAs are serious about giving back. Whether it’s building a new playground for children, volunteering at a food bank, or planting a garden in honor of Earth Day, during TeamMBA Week, students, faculty, and staff will know that they are part of a larger effort to promote the goodwill of MBAs.”
