GMAT™ 2006: Registration On the Rise

In March, GMAT registrations for 2006 started to outpace registrations for the same period in 2005. Currently, the number of test takers registered for the exam is higher for this period than it has been in the last three years.

Also, early data from the 2006 GMAC Application Trends Survey show that application volume is higher than it was this time last year. This is further evidence of a positive trend in the demand for the MBA.

The recent surge in testing volume was preceded by a slow start for the first six weeks of 2006. This trend was only temporary—testing volume returned to normal levels by week seven and has remained comparable to previous years.

These shifts in testing volume appear to follow adjustments to the testing program. When we made the transition to computer-adaptive testing, we saw a similar slowdown in testing volume, and we believe that the decrease in test administrations during the winter of 2006 was also partly due to early issues with test center access. The Council has addressed these issues with Pearson VUE, and testing volume is back to expected levels.
