Stephen Lawrence has been appointed associate dean for academic programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. Lawrence will manage the school’s undergraduate and MBA programs as well as its diversity and placement activities.

Lawrence is an associate professor of operations management. He has served the Leeds School as faculty director of the Center for Business Education, chair of the management division, interim director of the MBA program, and director of the operations management and information systems doctoral programs. Prior to joining the University of Colorado, Lawrence taught at Washington University in St. Louis, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Pittsburgh. He also worked in industry for eight years in operations management, quality management, and sales engineering and was vice president of operations for Teetor Casting, an entrepreneurial metal-casting firm in Illinois. Lawrence holds a PhD in operations management from Carnegie Mellon University.

Admissions, Career Services, and Marketing Professionals, Program Directors, and Others

Lucy Arnold Sikes has been appointed coordinator of corporate relations at the University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business. Sikes served as vice president for public relations with the University of Houston alumni organization before relocating to Tuscaloosa. She earned a BA in communications from Florida State University.

John R. Flato has been named director of MBA career management at Georgetown University’s Robert Emmett McDonough School of Business. Flato has more than 20 years of corporate recruitment experience. As managing director of campus recruiting for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, he was responsible for the firm’s recruitment of more than 3,000 students in the United States and Canada. As national director of university relations, he managed the firm’s campus recruitment of undergraduate and MBA students and summer interns. Prior to Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Flato held a series of corporate recruiting positions with CIGNA Corporation and Honeywell Corporation. Flato holds an MBA in marketing from Loyola College, an MA in higher education administration from the Catholic University of America, and a BA in sociology from Washington College.

Hanan Khamis has been appointed administrative specialist for graduate admissions at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Lally School of Management and Technology. Khamis previously worked at the Sage College of Albany, where she completed her MBA studies in May 2003.

Brian Lohr has been promoted to senior associate director of admissions of the MBA program at the University of Notre Dame.

Leonard P. Morrison was recently named director of the MBA career center at Northeastern University. Morrison brings eight years of employer relations and career services experience to his new position from Babson College, where he was the director of MBA career services. Prior to that, Morrison spent 10 years in commercial banking and was vice president of commercial real estate for Shawmut Bank. He holds a BA degree in history and economics from Bates College and an MBA from Northeastern University.

Margery Peskin has been named director of marketing for MBA career services at the University of Iowa’s Tippie School of Management. Prior to joining the Tippie School, she worked as division director for Accountemps, a division of Robert Half International, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She holds an MA in education with a concentration in counseling from Wake Forest University.

Jennifer Ratay has been named assistant director for the public management program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Ratay will be transitioning from the Stanford MBA admissions office, where she has served as an admissions officer for the past two years. Prior to joining Stanford, Ratay consulted for the Aspen Institute’s Roundtable on Comprehensive Community Initiatives and worked in the Pew Charitable Trusts’ health and human services program. She also served as a legislative aide to U.S. Representative Marty Meehan (Massachusetts) on Capitol Hill and worked for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in Geneva, Switzerland. Ratay earned a BA in government from Dartmouth and an MPA with a concentration in international development from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

Jodi Schafer has been named the director of student recruiting for the full-time MBA program at the University of Iowa’s Tippie School of Management. Schafer was most recently a senior account manager for APAC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and served as an account manager and assistant branch manager for Enterprise Leasing in Newport News and Hampton Roads, Virginia. She holds an MBA from the Tippie School.
