iSER Promises a Better Online GMAT Registration Experience

COINS will soon be traded for iSER. If you are like most humans on the planet, you’d need a decoder ring to understand the previous sentence. But believe it or not, you and your applicants have likely had some experience with COINS and will benefit from the introduction of iSER.

COINS, the current ETS-owned technology platform on which GMAT online registration is based, will be replaced in July by a new registration system called iSER, or Internet-Based Scheduling, Eligibility, and Registration. The new system will feature an improved Web interface that integrates seamlessly with, making for a quicker, easier, and better registration experience. It will also make online registration transactions more secure and allow GMAT registrants to do things they could not previously do through online registration.

One of the new features of the new GMAT registration is the “surf for a seat” feature that enables test registrants to find an available seat in a test center before they submit a registration request. The feature resembles the functionality that allows travelers to choose their seats on airline flights before they book a ticket. They will also be able to find information about specific test centers, such as the street address and hours of operation, during the registration process.

The new GMAT registration system will also simplify the process of ordering additional score reports and will direct test registrants to important information about presenting the proper identification at test centers and preparing for the test.

In addition to online registration, phone, fax, and mail registration will remain available. Test takers who wish to take the GMAT at mobile test centers or in areas where the paper GMAT is administered will not be able to register online but can find out how to register by reading the instructions in the Take the GMAT section of, under the banner “Register for the GMAT.”
