COLLEGE OF WILLIAM & MARY, RAYMOND A. MASON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS RECEIVES RECOGNITION FOR SERVICE PROJECTS

Graduate Management Admission Council Honors Institution for “Business of Giving Back”

June 26, 2015, DENVER, Colo. – The Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) bestowed its TeamMBA Award to the College of William & Mary, Raymond A. Mason School of Business today during the closing session of the Council's 45th Annual Conference in Denver, Colo. Established in 2005, the award spotlights community service projects carried out by graduate management students. "The Mason School of Business and its students should be commended for making service to their community a core aspect of their program," said GMAC's CEO Sangeet Chowfla. "These future business leaders are part of a generation for whom service and business are inseparable."

Mason's MBA Class of 2016 volunteered at the Blayton House & Williamsburg Housing Redevelopment Authority, Dream Catchers Therapeutic Center, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. This business school is a repeat TeamMBA Award recipient, also having won in 2012.

"Our students feel strongly that giving back is a responsibility of leaders and leaders in training and that attitude is at the heart and soul of the William & Mary MBA program," said Ken White, Ph.D., Associate Dean, MBA and Executive Programs at Mason. "Participating in GMAC's TeamMBA is a terrific way for our students to encourage other business schools to make a similar commitment."

From June 2014 through May 2015, 686 individuals participated in GMAC's global TeamMBA program — volunteering a total of 465 hours, and raising approximately US$45,000. The following business graduate schools were TeamMBA finalists: Morgan State University School of Business & Management; Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business; Syracuse University Martin J. Whitman School of Management; and University College Cork, Ireland.
