University of Missouri—Spring Forward 5K

Sara Coe, Gordon E. Crosby, Jr. MBA Candidate and MBA Association VP of Philanthropy, reports on MBA volunteer activities.

The MBA Association put on its 1st Annual “Spring Forward” 5K Run/Walk this March 7th—the Saturday before Daylight Savings. All the proceeds from the 5K went to help out the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society-Team in Training.

We were able to put registration forms at various places throughout Columbia to get the whole community involved. Several local businesses donated water for during the race, snacks and drinks for after the race, tent and tables for us to use, and prizes for the winners! The MBA Association has a Happy Hour every Thursday night—we held a Happy Hour at Chevy’s Fresh Mex, who donated 15% of sales if you had one of our coupons.

For our first year we ended up having 124 people sign up; this included MU students, local residents, Crosby MBA Alumni, faculty, and the director of our program!  We were able to raise over $3,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
