University at Buffalo—Habitat for Humanity
Rich Sherry, second year MBA student and Graduate Management Association officer, University at Buffalo, School of Management, reports on a service project conducted by first and second year full-time MBA students.
In August, first- and second-year MBA students from the University at Buffalo School of Management joined together with Habitat for Humanity to work on the renovation of 23 Palos Street in downtown Buffalo. This house was scheduled for demolition by the City of Buffalo, but was purchased for a dollar by Habitat for Humanity. Now, this house will become the home of nine refugees after several thousand hours of volunteer work.

After the day was over several of the first year MBA students commented on the day. One of the new students explained, “It was a great experience. I had been looking for a volunteer opportunity for a while, so I was glad we had a chance to make a difference.” Another first-year student replied, “Even though I figure I won't get to meet the family living in the house, it was still very rewarding to help out knowing that our efforts won’t go unappreciated.”

The MBA students from the University at Buffalo would like to send a special thanks to Chuck and Virginia from Habitat for all of their help in organizing this spectacular trip.
