The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has worked over 60 years with graduate admissions professionals from around the world. Steeped in expertise, we are continuously offering education and training in admissions practice.  Since 1981, we have offered the Admissions Institute for New Professionals (AINP), a continuously-evolving program designed to equip those new to admissions with the knowledge and networks they need to be successful in their careers.  

AINP is an essential program for every new professional working in admissions, recruitment, outreach or marketing.  

Program Overview

Designed as a cohort-based, executive education experience, the program employs a combined learning methodology that includes lectures, cases, group discussions, workshops, and individual contribution. Experiential learning is key! Together with your cohort, you will explore Cave Hill, a fictitious business school which is facing myriad challenges, including a fall in published rankings and a mandate to increase application quantity and quality. How would you respond to these challenges if you worked for Cave Hill? This immersive, interactive case will expose you to best practices and new ideas in marketing and recruiting, and the program provides ample opportunity for you to begin applying these learnings to your own institution!

AINP provides a deep dive into the world of admissions, breaking it down into three core dimensions: Context, Outreach, and Evaluation.

  • Context. The best admissions tools are useless if not applied within the right context. In the Context learning unit, AINP helps you better understand the world of graduate management education including the forces that have shaped its evolution - such as rankings, employer demand and student motivations.
  • Outreach. The outreach learning module provides tips and tools to maximize your marketing and recruiting activities throughout the candidate lifecycle.  These include sessions on enhancing recruiting events, engaging candidates through multiple communication strategies, managing your message, and effective yield management strategies.
  • Evaluation. The evaluation learning section teaches you to review an application, maximize the interview, and implement effective strategies for crafting a class.

  • Learn how Admissions plays a role in sustaining quality growth in the student to alumni lifecycle 
  • Understand the current GME applicant landscape in the US and abroad 
  • Discuss how rankings can impact the admissions process 
  • Use rankings knowledge to respond to stakeholder inquiries 
  • Utilize data analytics based on market research received on mba.com to position your program effectively in a complex market
  • Plan how your messaging and branding strategies can drive recruitment activities and outreach 
  • Identify the impact your Admissions role has on prospective student career tracks 
  • Learn how applications and interviewing will dictate the class composition and student career prospects

Registration for AINP is now closed.

Registration Fee

  • Early registration fee is US$ 2,100 and valid through May 31, 2016.
  • Registration fee after May 31, 2016 is US$ 2,400.

Tuition includes all program materials, certification and scheduled meals.

Who Should Attend?

AINP is exclusively designed for newly hired admissions, recruitment, outreach and marketing professionals from business schools of all sizes and locations —large, small, public, private, global, regional. Professionals should have six* to 18 months experience in your current role.  Even if you have many more years of work experience within a university or corporate setting, if you are new to b-school admissions, you will benefit from this program.    

*If you have less than six months of admissions experience (as of July), we recommend you attend this program next year.
