B schools win EQUIS accreditation, CIBER grants; EMBA survey; new healthcare alliance; major grants, new programs, and more…
IIM-B, Australian School of Business Earn EQUIS Accreditation The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore and the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales are two of three institutions newly awarded EQUIS accreditation on June 15. EQUIS, the European Quality Improvement System, is offered under the aegis of EFMD, the European Foundation for Management Development. The other new recipient was Nottingham University Business School at the University of Nottingham. Just 128 schools in 35 countries have earned EQUIS accreditation.
Three New Schools Among 33 to Win New CIBER Grants Three new names are among the 33 universities that are receiving grants from the US Department of Education in support of international business education and research. With grants totaling some US$1.5 million each over four years, the University of Miami, the University of Minnesota, and Georgia State University will each establish a new Center for International Business Education and Research in their business schools. The 30 other institutions with existing CIBERs also received funding during the program’s new cycle, which runs from this October through September 2014.
The CIBER program was created by Congress in 1988 to promote the nation’s capacity for international understanding and competitiveness. CIBERs serve as regional and national resources for business people, students, and teachers.
The new center in the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, for example, will focus on three key themes—emerging markets, environmental sustainability, and less-commonly-taught languages—and will serve as a resource for businesses and educators in Minnesota and surrounding states.
