The GMAT® volume through May 31, 2003—92,279 worldwide—shows a 15.71% decrease when compared to the number of tests taken during the same time period in 2002 (a year with unusually high test-taking volume). However, the 2003 year-to-date volume is close to the number of tests taken during the first five months of 2001 (95,299). The following table displays the four-year trend in GMAT volume for the first five months of each calendar year:

- The current worldwide volume is close to the GMAT worldwide test-taking volume during the first five months of 2001 and greater than that of the first five months of 2000.
- The number of GMATs taken in the United States during the first five months of 2003 is close to the number of GMATs taken in the United States during the first five months of 2001 and surpasses the number taken during the first five months of 2000.
- The trend is similar for GMATs taken outside the United States. The current test-taking volume outside the United States is less than the that experienced during the first five months of 2001 and greater than the volume experienced during the first five months of 2000.
