TeamMBA: Common Thread Binds B-School Students Worldwide

The premiere TeamMBA Week will be held April 21–25, 2008. B-schools at Baylor University, Drexel University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Rutgers University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Virginia are among those committed to this global give-back collaboration.

The goal of TeamMBA Week is to celebrate the collective contributions that b-school students, faculty, and staff make to their communities through activities such as helping to build houses, raising money for research, feeding the hungry, or caring for the homeless. An international media campaign led by GMAC® will tell the stories of participating schools’ strong commitment to corporate and social responsibility.

If you will celebrate Earth Day on April 22, this high-profile event could serve as an ideal tie-in for green volunteerism during TeamMBA Week—whether it’s planting trees, collecting trash, or starting a recycling campaign, your school no doubt can apply its ingenuity to help the environment as part of TeamMBA Week.

TeamMBA is a program designed to encourage and promote volunteerism and corporate and social responsibility in the graduate management education community. Uniting under the TeamMBA banner has helped to lift the positive profile of b-school students and professionals as they contribute their energy, talents, and time to community service.

Perhaps your school is a veteran participant in TeamMBA, or you’ve just heard about it and want to get involved. Your school can sign up for TeamMBA Week in three easy steps:

  1. Identify a community project or charity event during the week of April 21, 2008, including the surrounding weekends.
  2. Sign your school up locally to participate in that activity.
  3. Register your activity with us through www.gmac.com/teammba. TeamMBA staff will contact you to follow up on the details.

To encourage your school’s  participation in this international event, please share this article with your colleagues.

Since GMAC® launched TeamMBA in 2005, hundreds of students, staff, and faculty from scores of schools have donated thousands of volunteer hours and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities and community organizations. Participation in TeamMBA is free of charge and open to graduate schools of management education. For more information on TeamMBA, please visit www.gmac.com/teammba.
