Japhet Law to Head GMAC Activities in Asia

Japhet S. Law, a leading member of the Hong Kong community and longtime academic and administrator of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, has been named to lead GMAC® activities in Asia.

Law will serve as the first chair of the GMAC Asia Pacific Advisory Board, a team designed to give GMAC a regional presence in Asia and help the Council make graduate management education accessible to students worldwide. Law will initially focus on building the Council’s presence in China.

Law will also advise GMAC about business schools in the Asia Pacific region that could become members of GMAC. In addition, he will help the Council design and organize professional development programs for the management education industry in Hong Kong.
 
“I look forward to spearheading the Council’s efforts to expand its international presence in this part of the world,” said Law, a former member of the Council’s board of directors. “I am particularly excited to be able to help match promising business minds in Asia with top-notch business education programs in this and other regions.”

Law is a professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has served as dean of the faculty at the university, and as an adviser to corporations and government agencies in Asia and the United States. Law earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1972 and a doctorate in mechanical and industrial engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976.
