Corporate Recruiters Predict 2008 MBA Hiring, Salaries Will Stay Competitive
In a precursor to the 2008 GMAC® Corporate Recruiters Survey, which will be released in early 2008, GMAC researchers spent several weeks last month asking 142 corporate recruiters key questions about trends in MBA hiring and salaries. Those polled said they expected the hiring of MBAs to remain intense and competitive in 2008, and suggested that demand for MBAs may also drive salaries upward.
Among the key findings:
- 81 percent of those who hired MBAs 2007 said they expect to hire at least the same amount—or even increase—the number of MBAs hired in 2008.
- Of those who did not hire MBAs in 2007, 62% now plan to do so in 2008.
- 85 percent expect competition to hire MBAs in 2008 to remain as intense as it was this year—or even increase.
- A third said they’ll have to fight harder to land recruits.
- 69 percent said salaries for new MBA hires will remain in step with inflation or outpace it in 2008.
- 20 percent said salaries will rise faster than inflation.
The survey was conducted between November 7 and 28.
