GMAT® test taking is on the rise. GMAT® volume for January 2005—18,287 worldwide—shows a 4.8% increase over the number of tests taken during January 2004. This reverses the year-over-year declines for the month of January that were recorded in 2004 and 2003.
The U.S. test volume for January 2005 increased 5.5% from January 2004. Outside the United States, testing volume also increased, but at a more moderate pace of 3.5%.
2004 Year-End GMAT® Test Volume Down from 2003
Worldwide GMAT® volume for all of 2004 was 203,613, a decline of 6.6% compared with the number of tests taken during 2003.
But 2004 nevertheless closed with a number of hopeful signs. Overall volume showed an uptick in the last two months of the year. Testing volume in China rose 17% in December compared with the previous month, and volume improved at a 9% clip in India during the same period. Meanwhile, an increase in testing activity in France, Greece, and the United Kingdom during December helped push volume for December up 15% in Western Europe in comparison with figures posted in November.
