Our new partners assumed responsibility for administering and developing the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) at the beginning of 2006. GMAC® retains bottom-line accountability for ensuring that the test meets the needs of the graduate management education industry, and Pearson VUE, a business of NCS Pearson, Inc., and ACT, Inc., share our commitment to providing the best possible service to business schools and students.
The nature of this partnership allows us to address school and candidate needs in a timely manner. For example, more than 12,000 people took the GMAT® exam in January 2006. During that time, customer service representatives fielded more than twice that number of phone calls from test takers and others interested in the exam. We are continually gathering information and learning from these interactions about how to best work with Pearson VUE to monitor and enhance score reporting to candidates and schools, test center capacity, call center services, online registration, and other GMAT® test-related services
Our partnership with Pearson VUE also enables us to strengthen the measures we use to keep individuals from gaining an unfair advantage on the exam. For example, photographs for each test taker are now included in his or her permanent GMAT® record. Enhanced security technology in the Pearson VUE testing centers helps us safeguard the connection between test takers and their scores.
Although this transition has been smooth, we have encountered challenges along the way. In Greece, we are currently awaiting approval from the Greek data privacy authorities—testing is unavailable in Greece and will not open until this issue is resolved. We are committed to adhering to our own data privacy policies and the unique data privacy application requirements of each local jurisdiction where we offer the GMAT® exam.
