GMAT Volume Declines Slightly
Although GMAT® volume declined slightly during the first quarter, volume spiked in Taiwan and India.
The first quarter of the year is traditionally a slow season for GMAT® test taking, because it immediately follows the busy fourth quarter—when many candidates take the exam in preparation for submitting business school applications shortly after the new year begins. But although GMAT® volume was down slightly in the United States and internationally during the first quarter of 2005, testing volume rose sharply in some parts of the world.

Testing activity in Taiwan rose 46.3% during the first quarter compared with the first three months of 2004. GMAT® volume was up 13.6% in India for the first quarter of 2005.

Worldwide testing volume for the first quarter was 52,519, a decrease of 1.5% compared with the first three months of 2004. Quarterly GMAT® volume for the United States reflects a 1.3% decrease; non-U.S. volume declined 2.1%.
