Year-to-date GMAT® volume through September 30, 2004, was down worldwide compared with the same period in 2003, continuing a downward trend in the number of GMAT® administrations that began after testing hit an all-time high in 2002. But the rate of decline has slowed from 2003.
Total year-to-date GMAT® volume for 2004 was 146,024 at the end of September, down 6.43% from the same period in 2003. By contrast, total year-to-date GMAT® volume through September 30, 2003, was off 12.13% compared with the same period in 2002.
Year-to-date GMAT® volume in the United States and in countries outside the United States also slowed at a lesser rate through the end of September 2004 than it did during the first nine months of 2003. U.S. GMAT® volume in 2004 was 100,875 as of September 30, down 3.97% from 105,044 in 2003; non-U.S. volume slipped to 45,149 from 51,011, an 11.49% decline.
Trends in GMAT® volume differ depending on whether the test was administered within or outside the United States. Whereas U.S. GMAT® volume for the first nine months of 2004 is similar to the figure for the comparable periods in 2003 and 2001, year-to-date test volume outside the United States was slower as of September 30, 2004, than it was at the same point in any of the previous three years.
