What Are Recruiters Saying?
Highlights of the latest GMAC® Corporate Recruiters Survey paint a rosier employment picture for MBAs.

According to the latest GMAC® Corporate Recruiters Survey, the job picture for MBAs is improving. A healthier economy has allowed more companies to hire new MBAs. The number of recruiters unable to hire recent MBA grads has dropped by half this year—from 23% in 2003 to 12% in 2004.

Only half the recruiters surveyed are blaming the economy for limiting their recruiting plans, compared with 69% two years ago.

Additionally, MBA hiring activity increased across all job functions tracked. As in past years, finance saw the most hiring activity of any job function, with 62% of recruiters hiring for finance positions. Marketing, the next most active job category, saw the biggest increase in hiring, with 49% of recruiters hiring for that category—up nearly 20% from two years ago.
