Media Watch
Media interest in b-schools and the MBA continues unabated. Read on for a synopsis of recent media coverage—themes, topics, and publications.

What the Media Want to Know

Recent press inquiries to Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®)headquarters have focused on the value of the MBA in today's market, the job placement outlook for graduates, and recent declines in the number of international and female applicants. Solid participation from schools in the Corporate Recruiters Survey and the Global MBA® Graduate Survey, has provided good information to answer the media's questions.

The results of GMAC® surveys and other information GMAC® has provided to the media have received broad coverage over the past several months. The total circulation of media that have published GMAC-related information since October 2002 is more than 48 million.

What Was Covered and Where

The business school rankings still have a considerable impact in the press. In September, the Wall Street Journal and Forbes presented their rankings.

In the last year, most of the major business media and large U.S. newspapers have written stories on the value of the MBA and general business school information.

The Corporate Recruiters Survey (the GMAC® survey of MBA employers) and the Application Trends Survey (the GMAC® survey of business schools' annual application volume) garnered wide coverage in U.S. regional and local newspapers, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and career websites.

Results of the Global MBA® Graduate Survey, a survey of more than 4,000 soon-to-be MBA graduates representing 96 schools and 110 countries of citizenship, received international press (Globe and Mail, Economist Intelligence Unit), as did news of the judgment against the New Oriental School of Beijing for copyright violations against GMAC® and ETS (Belfast News Letter, Xinhua News Agency, South China Morning Post, Asia Pulse).

USA Today published a bar graph displaying results of the Global MBA® Graduate Survey.
