This annual survey of admission professionals is designed to:
- Gauge demand for various program types
- Provide information on applicant pool composition
- Assess acceptance and enrollment rates
- Document enrollment structure and incoming class size
From May to July of each year, the survey is open to all varieties of graduate management programs.
More than 332 business schools around the world participated in the 2009 main survey from 667 graduate management programs; 260 schools with data for 481 programs participated in our 2009 preliminary study.
Findings from 2009 Data
- One-year full-time MBA programs reported the strongest application volume. Nearly 7 in 10 indicated growth in the number of applications received.
- Application volume growth in 2009 was primarily driven by programs located in world regions outside of the United States across all MBA program types.
- Master of Accounting programs stood out among program types with the largest proportion (78%) reporting an increase in application volume.

According to a GMAC customer service survey, business schools use Application Trends Survey results to better understand the market, benchmark against other schools, develop strategies, share results, set goals internally, and justify resources.
